A scorching heat wave ravaging the land. Parched earth, wilted plants, burned leaves… animals and insects hover in a shady spot.

The crickets silenced from the melting heat. The sun glares and fires at all it could reach. The sea? Simmering. The pavement? Frying. The shutters closed to keep out the oppressive heat.
One could smell the rising temperature outside even from the ‘safety’ of the hot indoor shade.
An excerpt from a story? No.
This is the actual weather here, intensely felt from where I am sitting –
unusually hot, unbearable even for this weathered, strangely magical and energetically ravaged corner of the Mediterranean.
Why strangely magical & energetically ravaged?
Because this land has seen more than its share as
- the light and the dark
- myth and reality
- fact and fiction
- exiled philosophers
- purged thinkers
have been battling it out here every day for millennia.
Those ‘battles’ charge the atmosphere, color the landscape, and fuel creativity.
Speaking of creativity, in this oppressive heat wave, something triggered the idea in my mind to create The Mothership.
Before I go on, let me introduce myself.
I am Sosanni – a writer, an artist, and a gastronaut. wabi sabi. avant -, post -, and neo – by nature. And here I am armed with my cup of coffee, hand fan,and reading glasses in my writing nook, starting something ‘new’.
And I welcome you here, joining me as I set off today on this brand new creative journey.
The journey? Hard to say where it will lead.
The Mothership? This new journal?
To be filled with ephemera, marginalia, thoughts, art, fiction, finds, and food.
This isn’t just another notebook.
This is my mothership journal.
I have always kept sites and blogs – to get the ‘feel’ of the internet from the front and back end. I have always kept journals. Many. Concurrently. Yet Separate. I kept journals to house ‘separate’ types of content. My ‘main’ journals – those thick, overstuffed notebooks that eventually had to go digital (but still private) were:
- The Character Journal, which I call a village full of characters.
- The Worx in Progress – a journal I kept for years, housing tales yet to be told – fragments of tales yet to be constructed. All of these tales are meant to be recorded in unconventional ways.
- The Finds is a curated collection of striking images, tales & myths, article excerpts, quotes, photos, and oddities unearthed from the far corners of the web, which I felt the need to collect.
- and of course, Food – all things and anything culinary, which I feel the need to clip and collect.

My Idea: "It’s time to stop separating all this content into separate journals. This is content that is connected in its unique way. They are all part of my creative process. And if I bring them all together, in one place, and share it, it may spark an idea, trigger a thought, or provoke an emotion somewhere, spreading 'creative energy'."
I’ve finally decided to not only bring them all together here but to thread and wind them around each other—to let them overlap, contradict, spark, and blur.

The Characters are ready to make their debut to the world beyond their original notebook, which served as a “cocoon like” village – each page a separate cottage housing a unique character.
The content of The Worx journal contains tales that could never be coaxed into chapters and confined to books. These tales can only be ‘told’ in pieces, morsels and cupfuls. And that requires a special time and place. And that time is now – and the place? The Mothership.
And The Finds? Well, they need to be shared and housed with everything else that is ‘creative’, ‘culture’ or provokes thought or emotion. So here they will be as well.

So this is it:
a journal. a tapestry. threads of creativity.
Welcome on board. Stay for the ride. Peruse. Visit. Enjoy. Like. Share. Subscribe and all that.
The journey is best enjoyed with coffee. Or a colorful cocktail.
