I read this article, The Dark Side of Mindfulness, which exposed a shockingly new side to meditation.
A prominent psychologist and meditation teacher set out to research the benefits of the practice. What she found alarmed her. Over time, she would find that meditation, a multibillion-dollar industry that is promoted as a treatment for anxiety, chronic pain, alcohol abuse, addiction, and many other ailments, can sometimes, for some people, cause severe and lasting side effects: depression, anxiety, even acute psychosis.

And on a completely different note, I came across an article by Mao Jian, Rogue Verbs that discusses a whole new trend in tiny microblasts of production that have turned around how we processed media entertainment and stories.
Individual episodes can last less than a minute, packing in the content that a feature film might take an hour to unfold; some series run to hundreds of episodes. The production process is just as rapid: a whole series is often shot within a single week, with the production cycle taking just a few weeks more.

I realized that we bombard our minds with imposed states – ranging from enforcing meditative states to overstimulating blasts of micro blips.
Beyond the appeal of the screen, and our ever-increasingly toxic environments, we consciously and unconsciously impose too many ‘states of being’ on ourselves.
These impositions, as well as our ‘bad’ habits and toxic lifestyles, are damaging the natural state of our minds.
Tend to your minds, lovies. It’s what needs nourishment and protection to survive relatively unscathed in this world.
