I had mentioned the body being in sync with the mind. I had mentioned the subconscious and how writers often pour out issues into their writing. I had mentioned weathering storms and becoming seasoned.

Alice Miller wrote The Body Never Lies. The Lingering Effects of Hurtful Parenting. In the book she mentions various writers, such as Dostoevsky, Kafka, Proust and Woolf, who experienced their own traumatic childhood issues and later exhibited physical symptoms related to that weight they carried within.

Alice Miller brings to light the various symptoms, diseases, conditions, and states of being that are direct manifestations of carrying trauma into our adulthood.

It happens to be my current read. And it hits home. We are all in this world, in this lifetime, under these conditions, together. We all have shared experiences – both nourishing and hurtful ones. It’s part of the human experience. This book happens to address issues that pertain to many people throughout the world. Trauma is a universal human experience. Happens to the best of us.

How we deal with trauma is another thing. And we all need to receive the love and attention we deserve. Addressing these wounds is a form of love and attention to the self because we all deserve to live in a state of well-being.

If this resonates, do give this book a read. One is never too old, and it is never too late to lighten the load and live freely – carrying as few burdens as possible.
